A location-based service (LBS) is an information service, accessible with mobile devices through the mobile network and utilizing the ability to make use of the geographical position of the mobile device. Traffic Smart, Bus Service, Parking Guide, MRT/LRT and Traffic New all have LBS functionality.

How to access LBS?
You must install Google Gears (http://gears.google.com) except for iphones and Android phones. It is a plug-in which allows accessing of information offline or providing you with content based information on your geographical location. The first time you try to use our mobile site's features with Gears, you will need to acknowledge that you trust our site and allow Gears to access. To see and edit all the sites that are allowed or never allowed access to Gears, please use your mobile web browser's Options or Settings menu.

Which phone/browsers support LBS function?
Google Gears is now available for a number of mobile browsers and devices, mainly GPS enabled phones

• IE Mobile on Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices
• Opera Mobile 9.7 on Windows Mobile 6 touchscreen devices
• Safari on iPhone
• Android native browser

What if I am unable to download Google Gears?
You can still access all of the services available. LBS is a complementary option for you to locate nearest bus-stops/MRT given your current location. You can still obtain the list of services by keying in any postal code or destination name.

Why did LBS give me an incorrect position?
The Geolocation API provides the best estimate of the user's position using a number of sources (called location providers). Hence, the accuracy is dependent on them as they may be onboard (GPS for example) or server-based (a network location provider).
