Commuter uses more than one fare card and the refund amount, if any, will be credited to each specific fare card
Mr Muthu observed that he was only refunded $0.04 for journeys made from Tampines Avenue 5 to Jalan Besar on bus service 23, even though he had made the same journey almost every week. As a result, he felt he was under-refunded.
Explanation
We contacted Mr Muthu who informed us he had a total of three fare cards that he used for travel on public transport. We confirmed that the correct amount of $0.73 had been refunded to one of his cards. The second card qualifies for a 12-cent refund and the third card was not affected by the overcharging.
The fare system has the capability to track actual travel data and calculate the exact refund amount for all fare cards. The refund is card-specific. Some commuters may have used more than one card for their travels on public transport, and the total refund may thus be spread across the cards they own.
We would like to assure commuters that all overcharged amounts on any fare card affected by the bus stop distance discrepancies will be fully refunded.
